If you have not yet seen Lego Mindstorms NXT, you can go to the
official LEGO MINDSTORMS site
and check it out now!
Lego Mindstorms NXT is THE AMAZING new LEGO robotics system. It is not only the
successor of the "older" but very popular RIS
(Robotics Invention System). With the new servo motors
precision moving is a bliss. A great set of in-box sensors
give your robot all it needs to work (and play!) with its environment.

Spike
|
This new toy from LEGO targets a lot of different people.
LEGO lovers are building amazing creatures that walk, crowl, roll, throw, guard and do many more things.
Schools use NXT to teach science, math, technology, architecting, desing and implementation in a new, very enjoyable, breakthrough way.
And programmers are taking NXT Programming to the NeXT level.
|
LEGO provides the LEGO MINDSTORM NXT Software in the box.
It gives a fun-filled, "easy-to-understand-and-utilize" graphical environment for programming the NXT brick.
My 8 year old son picked up the concept of loops and branches built out of blocks just in about 10 minutes. He has way too much fun every time he builds and programs a new model!
While this NXT-G environment also provides some advanced features, for some people nothing replaces the good old line-by-line programming.
LEGO gives pointers to some of the alternative programming solutions.

NXT Halloween Claw
10/21/2007
|
This project is my son Alex's entry for the Mindstorms NXTLog 2007 Halloween Building Challenge.
It does what you expect from it: makes sure to give a heart attack for those unsuspecting victims who want to remove the treats from its palm. It also plays some creepy sound effects when it's left alone.
